ELCAP has ran a shopping bus service for many years and since COVID it is has an even more important role to play for our local community. The door to door shopping bus service enables local residents to retain some independence by shopping for their own groceries but to do it as part of a group reduces the social isolation that many of our shopping bus clients could so easily succumb to. Shopping bus clients never remain strangers for long due to being welcomed into the shopping bus service that is suitable for them and before long telephone numbers are exchanged and regular calls maintain the friendship between the shopping trips. For many, the shopping bus service is the only time in the week when some of our clients see and talk to someone outside of their family or carers.
